Moisturising
MOISTURISING STUDIES
The hydrating effect of test products can be evaluated for short term or long-term effect using various instrumental techniques.

STUDY DESIGNS
SHORT TERM MOISTURSING EFFECT
Population: 10 subjects with dry to very dry skin (below 35 a.u)
- Timepoint for measurement: Baseline, 1hr, 2hr, 4hr, 6hr, 8hr, 10hr, 12hr, 24hr
- Product application: at CIDP under controlled conditions
Population: 10 subjects with dry to very dry skin (below 35 a.u)
LONG TERM MOISTURISING
Population: 20 or 30 subjects with dry skin (below 35 a.u)
- Timepoint for measurement: Baseline, D7, D14, D28, D56
- Product application: Uncontrolled, under normal conditions of use
Population: 20 or 30 subjects with dry skin (below 35 a.u)
INSTRUMENTAL METHODS
- Corneometer CM 825® Determination of the skin surface moisture content by conductivity method
- Moisturemeter D®: Determination of the skin moisture (surface and bound moisture) content by determining the Tissue Dielectric Constant.
- Tewameter®: Determination of the Trans Epidermal Water Loss (TEWL) and Skin Surface Water Loss (SSWL).
- D squame® analysis: Collection of corneocytes at the end of study and analysis using ‘Quantisquam’ Software
